(alima-Linda Salmon) – 1st teachers my grandmothers, loved when jeanie rose published Herbs & Things… inspired me after my 1st sojourn in Senegambia to study after I met Catherine Abby Rich at a Marin market needing help for a friend, studied for several years… mostly I used my medicine making for a herd of Lipizzans at my twin’s ranch – 20+years as midwife to the mares, etc… The vets were always amazed… My favourite is flower essences as they’ve always talked to me… years later after my husband’s death, met Nan Koehler in person 2011 & lived at Rainbow’s End 2014 for 2 years… still use many of my own recipes & aromatherapy, now as grandmother at 75 years, to 5… my real medicine making though is in painting … Perhaps again I’ll have a medicine garden… Keep me posted… you Rosemary & Jeanie Rose have always been icons for me …

So much learned knowledge and a great sense of humor. I liked what she said about how important it is to not just read books about herbs but to get out there and harvest, prepare and use herbs–this was a wake up call for me because I have so many books on herbs yet I seem to get side-tracked and forget to actually use nature’s medicine. This is nettle season here in WA state so nettle soup is where I will start. Thank you for re-inspiring me…..

What a timely and delightful blessing. I checked the hardiness growing zone for yarrow while listening and am going to order the plant seeds today to start growing. Interesting personal sidenote about hawthorn: I started having heart palpitations early this year right AFTER I ordered a supplement combo for energy boosting that just happened to have hawthorn in it. At the same time,I also cut back on coffee and started drinking a pot of oat straw tea because years ago I heard Margi Flint interviewed saying she administered it to recovering meth addicts so I thought it’d help me get off my strong coffee “addiction”. I’ve been an amateur herbalist, for 30 years, reading books and practicing on my children. They are healthy and strong due to people like you who write books and share knowledge. Thank you for wise words!
